My Chair Archive

Chairs are something we use everyday, yet hardly think about. They have become so commonplace in our environment that we don’t truly see them anymore. We don’t think about chairs or critically analyze a chair unless it breaks our schema of what a chair is supposed to be or what a chair is supposed to look like. We all have our own personal connections to various chairs that we have come across in our day-to-day lives, even if we don’t realize it.

The possibility of personal connection is the basis of the organizational structure for this archive. Where and how do I personally see myself using the chairs i collected and catalogued?  The two general spaces envisioned while i categorized all these chairs were my childhood home and my future living and working space. Some chairs throughout this archive spark personal connections, others are simply chairs viewed as something to sit in, with no special meaning or memory attached.
